Recently, I was invited to deliver a commencement speech at Touro University, and in a twist, the date coincided exactly with my own Ph.D. graduation eight years ago.
This caused me to pause and reflect on the journey I’ve taken since that significant milestone in my life.
Looking back, I can clearly see how these eight years were filled with a lot of hard work and dedication. The many nights spent at my desk, my hands tirelessly pouring my thoughts and passion onto pages that would later become books, are still fresh in my mind. A career, that I’ve worked so hard to build over these years, has become the foundation of my passion for the art and science of change and transformation.
But what was the secret behind this? It is much simpler than you think, and at the same time, more difficult. It was about showing up, every single day, and taking action. Despite the challenges of being a full-time working mom of 3 young kids, a full-time student, and through a collapsing economy, I kept showing up and taking action every single day.
If you’re facing challenges right now, if you’re wondering to yourself if you can get to the finish line of whatever you’re dreaming about for your future and for yourself, know this:
Just keep showing up, every single day. Every time you show up and take action, you make your dream one step closer to your reality. I know that will be the case for you as much as it has been, and continues to be, the case for me.
